Express Employment is recruiting on behalf of one of our clients, we are looking for Rail Car Repair Technicians, who also have welding experience. This role is responsible for the maintenance of railcars. This position requires a mechanical aptitude to perform maintenance repairs on railcars. It is also an INDOOR position.

Duties

• Perform scheduled and on demand maintenance as per written instruction
• Remove and replace defective components on rolling stock (trucks, shoes, coupler assemblies, air brake systems)
• Safely and effectively operate various power and hand tools, acetylene torches, electric and gas welding equipment
• Read, understand, and interpret information from work orders
• Communicate procedural information verbally and in writing providing accurate record of repairs
• Maintain safe work habits at all times
• Perform troubleshooting and problem solving independently
• Ensure work meets regulatory requirements

Qualifications

• Mechanic, repair experience required
• Previous welding experience however journeyman ticket not required
• Confined Space Entry and Fall Arrest experience an asset
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Ability to work as a member of a team
• Able to perform work independently
• welding: 2 years (preferred)
• mechanical: 2 years (preferred)
