Job Summary
We are seeking Journeyman/Apprentice Carpenter to join our client's team!
Responsibilities:
Carpentry - Install/frame foundations, walls, floors, ceilings, and roofs. Fit and install window frames, doors, door frames, door hardware, interior and exterior trim. Erect scaffolding and ladders for assembling structures above ground level. Position or dismantle forms for pouring concrete. Mix, pour or spread concrete using a portable mixer. Shape or cut materials to specified measurements.
Safety - Promote & enforce the H&S Manual, as well as the Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulations for Construction Projects. Perform job setup procedures, train on proper procedures, conduct daily hazard assessments and toolbox meetings. Maintain a safe and clean work environment, striving for zero safety incidents. Report any jobsite injury and/or illness in an immediate manner to the appropriate Supervisor and/or Health & Safety Advisor
Teamwork– Receive direction from the Project Manager and act as the link between them and the field team. Monitor and report crew activities and job progress. Communicate, develop, work with and maintain sub-trade relationships to complete projects.
Project Layout– Read, interpret and work from blueprints, drawings, sketches or building plans to prepare project layout and determine dimensions and materials required. Prepare layouts which conform to building codes, safety regulations and company policies. Daily preparation of current tasks to minimize off site trips for supplies. Measuring, marking or recording openings or distances to layout areas where construction work will be performed. Clean or prepare construction sites to eliminate possible hazards. Salvage selected materials.
Qualifications:
- 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th year apprentice or Journeyman.
- Experience in construction.
- Ability to take accurate measurements.
- Familiarity and feeling comfortable working with common power and hand tools
- Ability to lift 50 pounds
- Valid class 5 drivers license
- Take directions well.
- Steel toed boots are required
