Our Tri-Cities based client, a pioneer in the glazing industry offering a full range of innovative glass solutions throughout North America, for commercial, transportation, institutional and defense projects, is seeking an experienced CAD Technologist with expertise in glazing systems. The ideal candidate will demonstrate technical skills and innovative design solutions for complex architectural projects. Collaboration with engineers, project managers, and clients is essential to ensure the accurate and timely execution of designs.

 

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

· Develop, modify, and review detailed 2D and 3D drawings using CAD software for glazing systems and related architectural components.

· Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and cross-functional team members to ensure accuracy and timely delivery of designs.

· Analyze architectural drawings and specifications to prepare precise glass and framing system drawings.

· Ensure designs meet all applicable codes, industry standards, and specific client requirements.

· Coordinate glazing designs with architectural, structural, and mechanical systems for seamless integration into overall building architectures.

· Maintain and manage an organized repository of drawings, ensuring they are up-to-date and compliant with company standards and regulations.

· Manage multiple project designs simultaneously, ensuring on-time delivery, budget adherence, and effective communication with stakeholders.

· Utilize and maintain CAD software, including updating libraries and databases for project documentation and archival purposes.

· Provide support to project managers by creating detailed material takeoffs, schedules, and shop drawings for fabrication and installation purposes.

 

Skills and Experience:  

· Minimum of 5 years of experience as a CAD technologist or in drafting, with specific expertise in the architectural glass/glazing industry preferred.

· Proficient in AutoCAD computer-aided design software such as Revit or SolidWorks.

· Diploma, degree, or certification in CAD Technology, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.

· Familiarity with BIM (Building Information Modeling) and 3D modeling techniques.

· Strong understanding of technical drawings, shop drawings, and construction documents, particularly in relation to architectural glazing systems.

· Knowledge of glazing materials, fabrication methods, and installation techniques, including curtain walls, glass facades, canopies, skylights, and other glass structures.

· Understanding of relevant building codes, standards, and industry regulations, including ASTM, ANSI, AAMA, and other glazing-related standards.

· Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively within a diverse, cross-disciplinary team.

· Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

· Ability to provide clear direction to production and installation teams, as well as subcontractors.
