Role Impact

As the Controller, you’ll be instrumental in driving financial efficiency and accuracy across the organization. From implementing new software systems to automating reporting processes, your contributions will enhance decision-making and operational effectiveness.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Leading financial processes, including insurance, banking, and foreign exchange management.
  • Managing financial reporting for 30+ forestry projects, covering budgets, asset control sheets, sales, and departmental reports.
  • Overseeing audit processes and ensuring the production of accurate, comprehensive financial reports.
  • Spearheading the implementation of new accounting software, streamlining project coding systems, and automating reporting workflows.
  • Collaborating with senior leadership to align financial operations with organizational objectives.
  • Mentoring and managing a small finance team, fostering growth and operational excellence.

What You Will Need to Succeed

  • Experience: 3-5+ years in a Controller role, preferably in forestry, resource industries, or project-based environments.
  • Certifications: CPA designation required; familiarity with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks Online) and financial system transitions is a plus.
  • Industry Knowledge: Experience in forestry, brokerage, or similar resource sectors like mining or logging road building is preferred.
  • Technical Proficiency: Expertise in financial reporting, software integrations, and project coding systems.
  • Leadership Skills: A proactive approach to team management and process improvement.
  • Adaptability: Comfort working in a dynamic, evolving environment with significant system transitions.
  • Communication: Strong interpersonal and proactive communication skills for effective collaboration.
