As a Foreman, you will be responsible for leading and participating in the execution of various landscape and hardscape projects,

ensuring high-quality workmanship, efficient project completion, and adherence to safety standards.

This role requires strong leadership abilities, technical expertise in both softscape and hardscape construction, and a valid AZ or A driver's license.

 

Location: Guelph, ON

Shift Start Time: 6:00am

Compensation: $26.00 - $28.00 per hour (commensurate with experience and qualifications)

Responsibilities:

 

Leadership & Team Management:

  • Supervise and direct a crew of landscape technicians and laborers on job sites.
  • Effectively communicate project plans, tasks, and expectations to crew members.
  • Provide on-the-job training and guidance to crew members.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative team environment.
  • Monitor crew performance and address any issues or concerns.
  • Ensure efficient use of manpower and resources.

 

Project Execution:

Oversee and participate in all aspects of landscape and hardscape installations, including but not limited to:

  • Hardscaping: patios, walkways, driveways, retaining walls, steps, outdoor kitchens, fire pits, etc. (using materials such as pavers, natural stone, concrete, etc.)
  • Softscaping: planting trees, shrubs, flowers, sod installation, mulching, grading, soil preparation, etc.
  • Interpret and work from blueprints, site plans, and specifications.
  • Ensure projects are completed to a high standard of quality, on time, and within budget.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve any on-site challenges or issues.
  • Maintain organized and clean work sites.

Equipment Operation & Maintenance:

  • Safely operate a variety of landscaping and hardscaping equipment, including but not limited to: excavators, skid steers, loaders, compactors, saws, power tools, etc.
  • Perform daily inspections and basic maintenance on equipment.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs promptly.
  • Safely operate commercial vehicles, including trucks and trailers, to transport materials and equipment to and from job sites.

Material Management:

  • Ensure adequate materials are available on site for project completion.
  • Assist with the loading and unloading of materials.
  • Monitor material usage and minimize waste.

Safety Compliance:

  • Enforce all company safety policies and procedures on job sites.
  • Conduct regular safety checks and address any potential hazards.
  • Ensure crew members are using appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Report any accidents or incidents immediately.

Communication & Client Interaction:

  • Communicate effectively with project managers, clients, and other stakeholders.
  • Address client questions and concerns professionally on site.
  • Provide regular updates on project progress to the project manager.

Documentation:

  • Complete daily work reports, including hours worked, tasks completed, and materials used.
  • Document any site changes or issues encountered.

Performing tasks:

  • Performing hands-on tasks such as planting, interlocking, flagstone, grading, sodding, retaining walls & steps.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience (3+ years) in landscape and hardscape construction, with demonstrated leadership experience.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of hardscaping techniques, materials, and best practices.
  • Strong understanding of softscaping principles and horticultural practices.
  • Valid AZ or A driver's license with a clean driving record is mandatory.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and site plans.
  • Proficient in operating a variety of landscaping and hardscaping equipment.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
