Job Overview
Our client has been serving our community since 1967. They have been processing and selling high quality, value added flat rolled steel to customers throughout North America. We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Crane Operator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating remote cranes to lift, move, and position heavy materials and equipment in a safe and efficient manner. This role requires strong mechanical knowledge, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
Responsibilities
- Operate remote cranes safely and efficiently to lift, move, and position loads as directed.
- Perform routine inspections and maintenance on crane equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Communicate effectively with ground personnel to coordinate lifting operations and ensure safety protocols are followed.
- Maintain accurate records of crane operations, including load weights and job completion times.
- Collaborate with team members to build and dismantle temporary structures as needed.
- Opportunity to be trained on cutting steel panels using oxy-fueled torch cutter
- Other duties as required in the department
Qualifications
- 1-2 years of proven experience operating cranes; certification is preferred but not mandatory
- Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to troubleshoot equipment issues.
- Familiarity with boom trucks and forklifts is an advantage.
- Ability to communicate clearly
- Excellent rigging skills with a focus on safety practices.
- Previous experience in a warehouse and be willing to work in a general labor capacity as required
- Must be able to work flexible hours as required by project demands.
