About the Role

 

  • The Accounting Services Representative is responsible for providing accurate and effective daily accounting support services, including accounts payable duties, invoicing for payments, entering information into the accounting system, and ensuring data is complete and maintained as required.
  • Provide accurate and effective daily accounting support services, including accounts payable duties.
  • Assist with processing and reports of accounting documents or records, entering information into the accounting system, and ensuring data is complete and maintained as required. 
  • Verify the accuracy of all invoices, including proper authorizations, coding, and pay due dates according to Company policy, matching payments to invoices and/or work orders.
  • Ensure all information relating to supplier payments has been completely and accurately entered into the accounting system prior to payment, including all balancing of these amounts as required.
  • Meet applicable deadlines and prioritize the flow of invoices and work demands.
  • Review cheque requisitions and process manual cheques, stop payments and cancel cheques when necessary.
  • Provide and attach all required documentation to cheque vouchers before presentation to the signing officers.
  • Release signed cheques to the appropriate source on the due date or upon the direction of the supervisor.
  • Complete all bank reconciliation activities and track, calculate, review and submit HST tax remittances.

Experience and Qualifications

 

  • 1-3 years related experience, preferably in a high-volume multi-company environment 
  • A solid understanding of accounts payable procedures and a basic understanding of general accounting procedures, particularly those relating to reconciliation of accounts and journal entries. 
  • Accounting diploma or relevant post-secondary education is preferred. 
  • Strong customer service focus, with good communication, follow-up and problem-solving skills. 
  • Good working knowledge of accounting software systems (knowledge of NetSuite is an asset). 
  • Competency in MS Office with hands-on experience working with intermediate-level Excel spreadsheets.
  • Organize multiple tasks and handle changing priorities and workloads in peak periods to meet all deadlines.
  • Proven accuracy and attention to detail, data entry skills, and an aptitude for numbers. 
  • Experience with electronic document storage systems is an asset. 
  • Self-motivated and able to work cooperatively in a team environment, committed to providing high client service.
