Job Description:

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Panel Design  to join their dynamic team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in the design and production of floor and wall panels for low to mid-rise residential housing projects. The individual will be responsible for utilizing MiTek Structure software to create innovative and structurally sound designs. This position requires a keen attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Utilize MiTek Structure for Floor and Wall panel design in the creation of low to mid-rise residential housing projects.
  • Review and analyze specifications, blueprints, engineered drawings, and related designs to determine factors affecting the design of panels.
  • Generate Request for Information (RFI) for any conflicts or missing information that may impact panel design.
  • Create layouts, elevations, and other file types for fabrication and site assembly, collaborating with the panel shop.
  • Complete and finalize designs for production and assembly, ensuring adherence to design standards and structural integrity within the Ontario Building Code (OBC).
  • Evaluate designs to ensure compliance with engineering standards and specifications.
  • Communicate effectively with the design team, production teams, customers, and managers to ensure accuracy throughout the design process.
  • Assist in responding to questions and concerns from customers and site installers.

Qualifications:

  • College or University education in Construction Technology: Civil Engineering, Architectural Technician, Building Science, etc., or equivalent work experience in the wood framing industry.
  • 2 to 3 years of experience using AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, Adobe Pro, and Microsoft Office.
  • Highly technical with computer systems, demonstrating exceptional communication, multi-tasking, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to handle the pressure of tight deadlines and complete working drawings in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrated understanding of key engineering and framing concepts, with critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
