Job Title: Electrical Engineering - Project Leader

Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Electrical Engineering - Project Leader to join our client's team. This role involves designing, integrating, and troubleshooting advanced automation systems for highly automated equipment. The ideal candidate will have expertise in PLC/HMI programming, industrial networks, and control systems, coupled with strong project management and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • PLC/HMI Programming: Select, program, and troubleshoot PLCs and HMIs with a strong focus on industrial networks such as Ethernet, ProfiNet, and ProfiBus (Allen-Bradley and Siemens).
  • Automation Integration: Integrate automation controls with complex automated systems, ensuring seamless operation and reliability.
  • Component Selection: Specify and integrate Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), process controllers, and field sensors to meet system requirements.
  • Engineering Design: Prepare and review engineering system drawings, including power distribution, single-line diagrams, bills of materials, control panel layouts, and system interconnections.
  • Project Management: Plan and schedule projects to meet deadlines, budgets, and customer expectations.
  • Compliance: Ensure designs and systems adhere to Canadian and/or American Electrical Codes.
  • Documentation: Write detailed specifications, material demand releases, and reports, maintaining clear communication with subcontractors and clients.
  • CAD Proficiency: Utilize CAD design software such as AutoCAD or EPlan for system design (experience considered an asset).
  • Team Leadership: Lead and motivate the design team to deliver high-quality results, starting from the pre-sales stage through project completion.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a three-year Engineering Technology diploma.
  • Minimum of 2+ years of experience in automation, controls engineering, or related fields.
  • Expertise in PLC/HMI programming and troubleshooting (Allen-Bradley, Siemens).
  • Strong understanding of industrial networks and associated components.
  • Familiarity with VFDs, process controllers, and field sensors.
  • Knowledge of Canadian and/or American Electrical Codes.
  • Proficiency in engineering drawing preparation and review.
  • Experience with CAD design software (AutoCAD, EPlan) is an asset.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to lead and manage a team.
