Are you a hands-on, collaborative, and proactive professional with experience in leading the financial management and day-to-day operations of a group of companies? Our client specializes in the Civil Construction Sector and their ideal candidate will possess strong business acumen and solid relationship building skills to provide key strategic support to the General Manager.

Responsibilities:
- Identify, develop, and establish financial and administrative policies, procedures, and controls; to support the achievement of the company’s strategic priorities, continued growth, and enhance overall operational efficiency.
- Manage project accounting, budgeting, and costing across multiple divisions and group of companies
- Ensure accurate monthly financial statements and timely financial reporting, effectively communicating with General Manager
- Provide training, mentorship, and professional development for the accounting team
- Provide direction and oversee national payroll
- Ensure compliance with government remittances
- Ensure smooth year-end processes and lead annual audits
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to senior management
- Ensure adherence to billing and collection schedules to maintain steady cash flow and negotiate financial requirements
- Manage government contract tracking and reporting
- Implement new tools and technologies to modernize accounting processes
- Research and automate financial workflows to increase efficiency
- Assist with decision-making to support company growth and enhance operational efficiency
Qualifications and Skills:
- 5-7 years of progressive Senior Accounting/Reporting experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting or Finance
- Accounting designation (CGA, CPA or CMA) or working towards
- 5-7 years of experience with Payroll and Accounting
- 3-5 years of experience in Construction environment, with a strong understanding of accounting principles
- Strong knowledge of project accounting, budgeting, and costing
- Experience managing government contracts
- Proficiency in Jonas accounting software
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, LOOKUPS, macros)
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively negotiate and communicate in a professional and respectful manner, with internal and external stakeholders at all levels
Bonus Qualifications:
- Experience assessing control systems and implementing accounting technologies and process improvements
- Strong people management skills, with a focus on team development and training
Compensation and Hours:
- Monday to Friday: 8:30am to 5:00pm
- Salary: $100,000 to $120,000 per annum (based on experience)
