We’re looking for an experienced Chief Operating Engineer to take the helm of our utilities department. What You’ll Do
As the Chief Operating Engineer, you’ll:
- Oversee the operation of boilers, refrigeration, air plants, water/wastewater systems, and more. Ensure seamless delivery of critical services that power our plant.
- Prioritize maintenance activities, conduct equipment inspections, and recommend innovative improvements to systems and procedures.
- Inspire and mentor a team of Operating Engineers, providing training and performance evaluations that support career development.
- Act as a steward of TSSA and Operating Engineers Act regulations, keeping operations safe and aligned with industry standards.
- Promote a culture of safety through inspections, training, and adherence to HSE policies and procedures.
- Lead system modifications, coordinate contractors, and ensure on-time, high-quality project delivery.
What We’re Looking For
To excel in this role, you’ll bring:
- Must possess a valid 1st Class Operating Engineer license, knowledge of Operating Engineers Act, Boilers, Pressure Vessels and fuels
- Knowledge of all applicable TSSA regulations.
- Successful completion of a Community College Diploma in Power Engineering Technology or related field of study or equivalent knowledge and experience.
- Strong knowledge of power generation / transmission technology, water and waste water treatment including processes, procedures and related systems in a plant environment.
- Sound knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and regulations.
- Experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, Power-point, Outlook, and to conduct research using the internet.
- SAP knowledge / experience would be an asset.
- High level of problem solving/analytical skills, strong organizational and coordination skills. Ability to work independently and within a team is required.
