Job Full Description
We are currently assisting with recruitment for a Construction Superintendent in the industrial construction sector, specializing in refractory and heat-resistant materials. Position Overview:
The Construction Superintendent will be managing and overseeing construction projects in the Sarnia area. The ideal candidate is eager to grow their career, has a solid foundation in construction practices, and is ready to contribute to successful project execution while ensuring safety and quality standards.
Responsibilities:
- Support the senior superintendent in managing daily construction activities on-site
- Coordinate with project managers, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure timely completion of tasks
- Assist in scheduling, resource allocation, and workflow planning
- Enforce safety policies and ensure compliance with all workplace health and safety regulations
- Conduct regular site inspections to identify and mitigate risks
- Monitor construction work to ensure adherence to project specifications and quality standards
- Assist in troubleshooting issues and proposing effective solutions
- Maintain clear and effective communication with team members, subcontractors, and stakeholders
- Document project progress and prepare reports for senior management as required
- Address on-site challenges promptly and escalate issues to senior staff when necessary
- Collaborate with team members to ensure project objectives are met
- Diploma or degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field
- 2+ years of experience in construction (industrial experience preferred)
- Experience with refractory or heat-resistant materials is an asset
- Familiarity with construction software and tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Procore, or MS Project)
- Strong understanding of construction processes, safety regulations, and industry standards
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Problem-solving mindset and ability to work under pressure
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel as needed
- Certifications in safety (e.g., WHMIS, First Aid, or Working at Heights) are highly desirable
